Privacy Policy

Overview
Fig Frame ("the App") is developed by Dave Waymouth. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and your rights regarding your data.
In short: Fig Frame is designed to be fully private. Your photos, personal data, and usage information stay on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal information to any server.
Information the App Accesses
Fig Frame may request access to the following data on your device, depending on the features you enable:
- Photo Library — to display your photos and videos in the slideshow. Photos are read directly from your device and are never uploaded or copied to external servers.
- Google Photos — to access photos and videos you select from your Google Photos account. Access is granted through OAuth authentication and only your explicitly selected items are accessible. OAuth tokens and selection metadata are stored locally on your device.
- Google Calendar — to access calendar events from your Google Calendar account. Access is granted through OAuth authentication with read-only permissions, and only calendars you explicitly select are accessible. OAuth tokens and calendar data are stored locally on your device.
- Calendar & Reminders — to display upcoming events and tasks in the calendar and reminders widgets. This data is read from the system calendar and reminders stores on your device.
- Location (approximate) — used solely to provide local weather data in the weather widget. Location data is sent to Apple's WeatherKit service to retrieve forecasts and is not stored or transmitted elsewhere.
All of these permissions are optional. The App functions without granting any of them — you only need to grant access to the features you choose to use.
Data Collection
Fig Frame does not collect any personal data. Specifically:
- No user accounts or sign-ins are required.
- No analytics, usage tracking, or crash reporting data is collected.
- No advertising identifiers or tracking technologies are used.
- No data is sent to our servers — we do not operate any servers that receive data from the App.
Third-Party Services
The App uses Apple WeatherKit to provide weather forecasts when the weather widget is enabled. When you use this feature, your approximate location is sent to Apple's weather service to retrieve forecast data. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
The App uses Google Photos API when you choose to include photos from your Google Photos account. This requires OAuth authentication with Google, and only photos you explicitly select are accessed. OAuth tokens and selection metadata are stored locally on your device. This service is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
The App uses Google Calendar API when you choose to display calendar events from your Google Calendar account. This requires OAuth authentication with Google and provides read-only access to calendars you explicitly select. OAuth tokens and calendar data are stored locally on your device. This service is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Custom slides and custom widgets may load third-party websites or content that you configure. Any data those websites collect is governed by their own privacy policies. Fig Frame does not control or monitor the data practices of third-party websites you choose to embed.
No other third-party services, SDKs, or analytics frameworks are integrated into the App.
The use of raw or derived user data received from Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
On-Device Machine Learning
Fig Frame uses Apple's on-device Vision and Core ML frameworks to enhance photo display. Specifically:
- Face detection (smart cropping) — the Vision framework detects faces in photos so that cropping keeps faces visible and centred in the frame.
- Depth estimation (parallax effect) — Core ML analyses depth information embedded in photos (or estimates it on-device) to produce a subtle parallax animation when the device moves.
All machine learning processing is performed entirely on your device. No photo data is transmitted to any external server or AI service as part of these features. Data obtained from Google Workspace APIs (including Google Photos and Google Calendar) is never used to train, improve, or develop any machine learning or artificial intelligence model.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the data the App handles on your device:
- OAuth tokens for Google Photos and Google Calendar are stored locally on your device and are used solely to authenticate requests to Google's APIs on your behalf. They are never transmitted to our servers.
- Photo and calendar data is accessed read-only and is never copied, uploaded, or stored outside your device.
- All sensitive data processing (face detection, depth estimation, photo rendering) occurs on-device using Apple's frameworks, with no external data transmission.
- No sensitive data is transmitted in plaintext. All communication with Google APIs and Apple WeatherKit uses HTTPS.
Since Fig Frame does not operate any servers or databases, there is no server-side data storage that could be compromised.
Data Storage
All App settings and preferences are stored locally on your device. No data is stored on external servers. When you delete the App, all associated data is removed from your device.
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transfer your personal information to any third parties. Since we do not collect any data, there is no data to share.
Data Retention & Deletion
Since Fig Frame does not collect or store any personal data on external servers, there is no data retention to manage. All data used by the App exists solely on your device.
To delete all App data, simply delete the App from your device. You can also reset the App's settings from within the Settings screen without uninstalling it.
Children's Privacy
Fig Frame does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The App does not require any personal information to function.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
